Hyperuricosuria

HUU is a disorder that predisposes affected dogs to the formation of uric acid stones. Dogs with this disease are more susceptible to urinary tract infections and will experience pain during urination and blockage of the urinary tract.

HUU is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner and there is now a genetic test to identify those dogs who are Clear, Carriers, or At Risk.

According to the genetic testing site, www.MyDogDNA.com the prevalence within the Lagotto breed is 8.11%.
